Tea Party Leader and Trump Campaign Chairman Pleads Guilty to Prostituting Kids, plus Other Crimes

If recommendations are followed, another wonderful representative of today’s GOP will (soon) be locked away for the rest of his life, and that sentence is far too short, if you ask me.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 9, 2018) – Today, Attorney General Andy Beshear announced that former Campbell County District Judge Timothy Nolan has pleaded guilty to numerous felony charges, including human trafficking of adults, promoting human trafficking of minors and unlawful transaction with minors.

As part of his plea agreement with prosecutors from Beshear’s Special Prosecutions Division, Nolan pleaded guilty to 21 counts against 19 victims and prosecutors’ recommended sentences totaling 20 years in prison. Nolan will remain in custody at the Campbell County Detention Center pending his sentencing March 29, 2018, at 9 a.m.

Nolan, 71, of California, Ky., a former local school board member, was originally charged in a criminal complaint by the Campbell County Police Department for crimes that occurred between 2010 and 2017. That complaint alleged that Nolan committed human trafficking with a minor by subjecting a child under age 18 to engaging in commercial sexual activity.

He was later indicted on 28 felony counts and two misdemeanor counts.

Now it may (or, hell, may not) come as a shock to learn that Nolan is a solid right-wing POS:

Nolan served as a district judge in the late 1970s and early 1980s and had become a well-known political figure. He campaigned locally for President Donald Trump, was vocal on many conservative/tea party issues, and was elected to the Campbell County School Board in 2016.

Care for a few more of the disgusting details?

He used drugs, threats of arrest and threats of eviction to force women and girls under the age of 18 into sex acts, according to the charges read in court by Judge Kathleen Lape.

Nolan pleaded guilty to 21 counts dating back to 2004. In addition to human trafficking and attempted human trafficking, the charges included giving drugs and alcohol to minors.

In some instances, he asked a minor to give her a backrub and engage in sexual conduct for money, according to the charges.

  • Nolan paid some victims with heroin and painkillers in exchange for sex.
  • At least one victim lived on his property in southern Campbell County. He threatened eviction unless sex acts were performed.
  • He threatened some victims with arrest, including telling one victim he’d call friends in the FBI and other law enforcement to arrest her.

Nolan faced more than 100 years in prison on 28 felony charges, including four counts of human trafficking of a minor. The total number of victims covered by the 21 charges he pleaded to is 19, including some juveniles.

Of course, Nolan’s lawyer tried the very Trump-ian “How can they do this to such a fine man” defense, but it apparently (and happily) fell on deaf ears:

“Mr. Nolan has been a public servant to the people of Campbell County for a majority of his life, and at some point there has to be a redemption for those who committed offenses but has to be balanced by what they have given,” Grubbs [his attorney] said.

Boo-fucking-hoo. But before anyone sheds too many tears over How Everyone Is Being Super Mean To The Good Judge For No Reason At All, consider that Nolan may also be a racist of the “it was only a joke and besides some of my friends are black” kind:

Nolan, a district court judge in the 1970s and 1980s, filed suit in Campbell County Circuit Court against former Campbell County School Board member Mike Combs and others he claimed operate GOPFacts.org. Nolan, who is Donald Trump’s campaign manager in Campbell County, has been a tea party loyalist for many years often criticizing local Republican leadership.

GOPFacts.org claimed Nolan is the man in the Klan outfit in a Campbell County bar  called the Rabbit Hole. Nolan posted the picture with the statement “Comn(sic) out to the Rabbit Hole and join the clan.” Nolan quickly deleted the post but it was caught by others who saved it.

It wasn’t Nolan in the Klan robes, Nolan said. It was a friend posing as a joke at a Halloween party in 2013, according to Nolan’s lawyer, Christian Dennery. The guy in the robes, who Dennery didn’t name, has two black grandchildren, Dennery said.

Someday our long national nightmare will be over. Someday. Until then, expect more self-righteous, flag-waving Nolans to proudly hoist and carry the banner of ignorant conservatism.
